What does this look like on your wedding day?
I fuse a documentary style approach with editorial photography to capture intimate, cinematic and real images on digital and film. Pragmatically, this means I often shoot from a fly on the wall perspective being unobtrusive and capturing things as they unfold; think candid photographs. This means real laughs, spilled drinks, ugly crying, and bear hugs. It's real and raw and most definitely, imperfect. But by fusing this approach with editorial photography, a more curated approach, we pull together moments that feel like a perfectly woven story or movie. These are the moments where I will direct you and guide your positioning more in order tell the story, but always in a way that feels relaxed and natural. Together editorial and documentary style photography fuse in to photographs that capture a feeling, not a perfect moment.
What do you need to do?
Most of the time, nothing! Documentary style means I try my best to just capture things that are happening, so just try your best to forget there's a camera on you and relax. However! Please ring fence time in your schedule for key photographs that you would like. For family shots, couples portraits, and fun with your wedding party. Photos are part of the day, part of the experience of getting married, they can be fun and playful. Don't think they detract from your day, they actually allow you time with the most important people you know, so give me time to capture them and soak in the moment.
Have you considered my editing style?
My editing style leans in to cooler tones, reflective of vintage film to create a timeless, classic edit. It's firmly rooted in cinematic colouring so expect blue hues, orangey popping highlights and a little grain. I'm partial to a black and white too, when it suits the energy of the photograph. As I shoot predominantly in Scotland, where we are not blessed with glorious sunshine often, you'll notice that my work feels softer, cooler and darker. I do my best to reflect the reality of the weather on the day and the scene in which I am shooting.
What will your final gallery be like?
Your final gallery will be broken down in to sections of your day. It will be filled with lots of candids of your guests so you can see who chatted to who, key moments as they unfolded, and sumptuous photographs of you both.

FAQs
Do you travel for weddings?
I'm based in Edinburgh but I will happily travel all over Scotland and the UK for any wedding or elopement! I don't charge for travel or accommodation in Scotland (I've got a wee camper van) but further afield we can discuss your plans as I may need a hotel room!
What is a second shooter?
Some weddings are BIG! And one photographer can't be everywhere at once. Who's capturing groom prep if I'm with the bride? The second shooter. If you'd like one, let me know and I can get one organised. Typical rates for a second shooter are £300 for a full day. I would edit their shots, so your gallery is a consistent style.
How do I book with you?
If you like what you see send in an enquiry through my contact form or an email at kategodfreyphoto@gmail.com - I'll confirm availability, we can chat details (over video), and if you're happy you confirm your booking by signing a wee contract and paying a 20% deposit. Exciting!
Are there any hidden costs?
Not at all! My prices are what they are. I'll take your photographs, I'll hand edit them all, and you'll get them in a digital gallery to download. From there, do what you please with the photos. You can add on extras such as fine art prints or an album! Additional hours coverage, second shooters, re-edits, pre-wedding shoots are all charged at an additional cost
